IS Alumna Courtney Hoffner Receives Chemistry Division Award

The SLA Chemistry Division has announced that IS Alumna Courtney Hoffner is the winner of the 2011 Marion E. Sparks Award for Professional Development.

Courtney has been a librarian at the UCLA Science & Engineering Library since November 2010. She obtained her MLIS in 2008.

The Division will present Ms. Hoffner with a $1500 check and award certificate to support her attendance at the 2011 SLA Annual Conference in Philadelphia. The presentation will take place during the DCHE Annual Business Meeting/Breakfast in Tuesday, June 14, 2011.

The Sparks Award is named to honor Marion E. Sparks, a pioneering and influential chemistry librarian who worked at the University of Illinois from 1913 through 1929.
