Graduating Students' Frequently Asked Questions
Technology
Information Studies MIT Lab & Account Access
As per the Lab's policy, you will continue to have full access to the Lab over the summer. Accounts remain active through the end of the third week in August. At that time, your accounts will be closed. Printing credit, which is non-refundable, expires when your lab account expires. Please make arrangements to make copies of any important files on your Z: drives before the end of the third week in August. Current hours for the Lab.
GSE&IS Mac Lab Accounts
Accounts to access the GSE&IS 118 Mac Lab administered by the Educational Technology Unit (ETU) should expire at around the same time as those in the MIT Lab (see above). Please contact ETU directly with any questions about your account.
Bruin Online Accounts
Traditionally, Bruin Online (BOL) email and web accounts remained active until approximately 6-8 weeks after graduation, which puts it around mid-August. The language on the website does not currently specify an exact date. When your BOL account expires, so does your access to the various resources that you logged in with it (library access, etc). As always, please contact BOL directly with questions about your BOL accounts, as the Lab has no information or ability to support those accounts. BOL Account Information
There is Lifetime Email Forwarding available through BOL, but if you choose to enable it, your BOL email account is immediately deleted, so be sure you have copies of any important email that may still be on your UCLA account. There is an option to have it activate once your account is removed, but please read their site for more information. information about Lifetime Email Forwarding
Please note: If you are just walking at graduation, but have not officially graduated [i.e., haven't finished coursework, haven't presented portfolio/thesis, etc], your account will NOT be removed at this time, either by the Lab, ETU or BOL.

Question: My employer wants verification that I have completed the program. How do I get that?
Answer A: The IS Student Affairs Officer (Susan Abler), can write a letter that you have completed your coursework, advanced to candidacy, and passed your portfolio/thesis. The Student Affairs Officer will need to know where to send the letter or fax it.
If that is not adequate...
Answer B: Go to the Registrar's page at http://www.registrar.ucla.edu/. Click on Alumni. Under Diplomas there is a Request for Early Certificate of Completion. You will not be able to make that request until spring grades are submitted and posted (approximately three weeks from today).
Question: When/where do I get my diploma?
Answer: See the Registrar's page again. Under Alumni then Diplomas. It takes about 12 weeks sometimes longer for spring because there are so many. The Hotline number is 310-825-8883. It is our understanding that you will receive email notification so keep that address updated. But you can ask to have it mailed.

Answer: Consult Tips for Students Leaving UCLA for more information.
Question: How long will I be able to access URSA and MyUCLA?
