Guide to Printing on Lab Printers

Printing Double-Sided Pages

Note: You may print on both sides using Lab Printer 1 and 2.

1. In your pdf or web file, select FILE from the toolbar, and then PRINT. If you are in an Office application, click on the OFFICE BUTTON, choose PRINT from the left side of the window, and select PRINTfrom the right side of the window.

2. From the Printer Name drop-down box, choose either LabLaser1 or LabLaser2.

3. From the Print dialog box, click on PROPERTIES.

4. On the Printing Shortcuts tab, check the box labeled Two-sided (Duplex) Printing. Click OK twice.

5. Repeat these steps each time you'd like to print double-sided.

Please note: Printing double-sided does not decrease the number of pages counted towards your print quota. Your print quota is counted according to how many pages are SENT to the printer.

Printing Multiple Pages to One Sheet

1. In your pdf or web file, select FILE from the toolbar, and then PRINT. If you are in an Office application, click on the OFFICE BUTTON, choose PRINT from the left side of the window, and select PRINTfrom the right side of the window.

2. From the Printer Name drop-down box, choose any printer.

3. From the Print dialog box, click on PROPERTIES.

4. On the Finishing tab, adjust the number next to Pages per Sheet to as many pages per sheet as desired. Click OK twice.

5. Repeat these steps each time you'd like to print multiple pages per sheet.

Please note: Printing multiple pages per sheet does not decrease the number of pages counted towards your print quota. Your print quota is counted according to how many pages are SENT to the printer.

Printing PDF Files

1. If your document is open in a web browser, (such as Moodle course software), please print the PDF from the PDF window contained inside the browser window, NOT the browser window.

2. Still having trouble? In general, PDFs operate much more smoothly on Macs than Windows machines - try the Mac lab next door.

Printing from Web Browsers

1. Think about which section of the web page you'd like to print. If you'd only like to print one part of a page that has frames (for instance, Moodle course software), click in the frame that you'd like to print. (What does that look like?)

2. Select FILE from the toolbar, and then PRINT.

3. In the Print Frames box, select The Selected Frame. Click OK.

Print Quotas

1. To view your print quota, open your Z: Drive.

2. On the first level of the Z: drive is a text document called MY PRINTING TOTALS.TXT. Open this text file to view your total pages left for the year.

3. Your printing totals are updated twice per week; it is not instantaneous.

4. Should you reach your quota, please see a lab staff member to purchase more pages.

Troubleshooting

Where's my print job?

1. From the START menu, select Printers and Faxes from the right-hand column.

2. Double-click on the printer to which you sent your document (LabLaser 1 or 2.)

3. Check the queue for your print job; there may be other print jobs in front of you.

Where's the printer paper?

1. Look for printer paper in the Northeast corner of the lab, near the study area.

2. You may load printer paper yourself, or ask a lab staff member to help you.
